Overview
Rateline Auto, operated by MetricLink Labs LLC, collects information you provide when you request free car insurance guidance. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to our website and Rateline Auto Alerts.
Information we collect
We collect your ZIP code, vehicle year and make, current insurance status, what you want help with, first and last name, email address, and mobile phone number. We also record your agreement to our terms, your separate SMS consent choice, the consent text, timestamp, page URL, and browser user agent.
We may collect analytics data such as pages visited, device and browser type, previous page, and approximate location derived from an IP address to understand website performance. We do not request payment information or a Social Security number on our guidance form.
How we use information
We use information to provide the guidance you requested and to contact you by email and phone about it. If you separately opt in, we use your mobile number to send Rateline Auto Alerts marketing text messages, including car insurance tips, coverage review reminders, and updates about our guidance services. You can opt out of text messages by replying STOP. We also use information to operate, protect, and improve our service and meet legal obligations.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We disclose information only to service providers acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, such as hosting providers and communications/SMS delivery vendors, or as required by law.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
SMS consent and your choices
You opt in to Rateline Auto Alerts only by checking the separate, optional SMS consent checkbox on our guidance form at https://ratelineauto.com/get-started and submitting your mobile number. It is unchecked by default. Text message consent is optional and is not a condition of any purchase or of getting guidance. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP or email contact@ratelineauto.com for help. Following STOP, you will receive one final confirmation and no further program texts unless you opt in again. You may also email us to opt out. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply.
Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information and retain it only as necessary to provide our service, maintain consent records, and meet legal obligations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing contact@ratelineauto.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Certain records may be retained when required by law. You can withdraw SMS consent at any time without affecting your ability to get guidance.
Children
Our service is intended for US residents age 18 and older and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy here with an updated date. Review this page periodically for changes.
